Organic Irish Breakfast Tea
An inspiring blend of loose leaf teas that produces a malty, full bodied flavour with sweet, floral highlights. Our flavoursome Ceylon OP is complimented with fruity Darjeeling and rich Assam to make an organic Irish Breakfast Tea that is too good to keep just for breakfast. Irish breakfast tea benefits are from the antioxidant content of the Camellia Sinensis plant where all types of black tea come from.
It is very similar to English breakfast tea and the main difference is that Irish breakfast tea contains a stronger amount of black tea than the former. As a result, Irish breakfast tea possesses a darker colour and a deeper flavour than its English counterpart.
Due to its strength, Irish Breakfast Tea is commonly served with milk, but may also be consumed black, with sugar or even with honey. Most people drink Irish Breakfast tea with milk. Being a black tea, it has a strong flavour and higher caffeine content than green, oolong, or white teas.
The best Irish Breakfast tea is generally believed to come in loose leaf form as it usually contains the best parts of the tea plant. When it is brewed, the loose leaves slowly unfold to release its flavour. The tea should ideally be brewed loosely in a pot which will allow the tea to completely expand in the water.
Not withstanding its name, this tea is enjoyed throughout the day in Ireland, where it is simply referred to as “tea”.
